We've tooled up our own custom M5 screws specifically made for mounting ski bindings to swap plates or inserts. The head is tapered and fits like a flathead screw, but with a smaller diameter head so that they fit bindings which require a smaller diameter clearance. The underside of the head has locking serrations to help ensure that the screw doesn't back out over time. High quality stainless steel. For use with a Pozi #3 Phillips head screwdriver. Flat head screw lengths are measured over all length of the screw (the length of screw including the thread and head).
It is very important to maximize the number of threads engaged in an insert or a swap plate, so be sure to measure carefully. Inserts can accommodate from 3mm min to 6mm max of thread engagement. We like to target 4mm of thread engagement. Do not exceed the min/max numbers for any reason - you will not get a secure mount. These screws fit exactly like Allen head flatheads in terms of length.
With great pride, we introduce our latest addition: custom-machined 8mm head screws. Moving forward, we will discontinue the practice of grinding screws on demand. This transition enables us to expedite order fulfillment, ensuring enhanced customer satisfaction through prompt service. This upgrade guarantees screws with an improved finish and more precise tolerances. You'll find these screws on their dedicated product page, accessible here.

The ribs on the bottom of these make them better than most options from competitors. Hold better once tightened.

I bought the essential kit consisting of the depth specific drill bit, the 5m standard tap, and the drive tool for threaded inserts. Then I bought a 25 pack of inserts and a 25 pack of screws. Bottom line, I own one pair of really nice tele bindings that I can move between 3 different pairs of skis in minutes. If you're not afraid to drill and tap and use 2 part epoxy, you can have this kind of versatility with these products. Thanks Binding Freedom.

Screws that function well, but to big head to Dynafit bindings.
You need to make it smaller in diameter to fit Dynafit.
Pretty easy job when using the drilling machine and a file.

This is the way to go if you're using binding freedom inserts. They have slight ridges on the tapered head that help them lock into your binding (plastic or aluminum) to keep them tight. You definitely want to spend the money and go stainless. Price for these was comparable to what I could find in town, but didn't have ridges to keep from backing out.
