We've tooled up our own custom M5 screws specifically made for mounting ski bindings to swap plates or inserts. The head is tapered and fits like a flathead screw, but with a smaller diameter head so that they fit bindings which require a smaller diameter clearance. The underside of the head has locking serrations to help ensure that the screw doesn't back out over time. High quality stainless steel. For use with a Pozi #3 phillips head screwdriver.
It is very important to maximize the number of threads engaged in an insert or a swap plate, so be sure to measure carefully. Inserts can accommodate from 3mm min to 6mm max of thread engagement. We like to target 4mm of thread engagement. Do not excede the min/max numbers for any reason - you will not get a secure mount. These screws fit exactly like allen head flatheads in terms of length.

these are awesome. a great step up from the hex key screws. the knurl under the head feels like it does a great job biting into the binding. 14mm is what you need for BDO1 tele bindings.

These new pozi-drive screws are awesome. I have had inserts on 3 pairs of skis over the last couple seasons. As a person who works on my skis I am constantly changing bindings out. I could never find the proper bit for the old hex screws which caused a lot of them to get rounded out and I never felt good about tightening them too much. With these new pozi drives, I feel much more confident torquing these into the inserts without fear of stripping the heads. I also feel like the threads are a lot smoother getting them started and into the inserts. The new heads are not as low profile as the old hexs. Probably to give more material to install the pozi drive. I haven't found it to be an issue yet, but they look like they stick up a little more and don't quite fill the counter sink hole as much. All in all a great improvement to an awesome idea!
